1. Documents
Passport, driving licence and a payment card in the main driver's name. That is all.
2. The deposit
Blocked on your card at pickup, released within 3-10 working days of return.
3. Fuel
Full tank out, full tank back. Keep the receipt.
4. Parking in Tbilisi
The centre is paid parking, handled through an app or SMS. Fines are small but they do arrive.
5. Speed limits
60 km/h in built-up areas, 90-110 on highways. Speed cameras are common and well hidden.
6. Alcohol
The limit is zero. Not low - zero.
7. Driving at night
Regional roads are often unlit, and livestock on the carriageway is genuinely common after dusk. Plan to arrive before dark.
8. Fuel stations
In the mountains you can go 50 kilometres or more without one. Fill up before the climb, not during it.
